Steven P. Nielsen became the eleventh director of the Waterloo Public Library on January 4, 2016. As Library Director, Mr. Nielsen, who had been vice president of strategic accounts at Innovative Interfaces, Inc., Emeryville, CA, will work with the trustees and staff to fulfill the library’s mission of providing free access to education, information and recreation in a welcoming environment.

It was imperative that our new library leader has a strong background in community relations and in the procurement of alternative funding sources,” states Jan Hahn, President of the Board of Trustees. He continues, “Steven Nielsen’s proven ability raise funds through a library awareness campaign really solidified him as our top choice.”
Mr. Nielsen has a Masters of Library Science and Information Technology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, a Masters of Social Science, Public Administration from Utah State University and a Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting from Utah State University.
